As reported in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , Ford entered a disguised aluminium-bodied 2015 F-150 in the 2013 Baja 1000 and finished the 1000 mile course without incident. To make sure nobody recognized the new truck, they stamped the 2014 body in aluminium. Genius. First, read the R&T piece for the whole story.
What's not told however, is that apparently the #227 F-150 was a DNF according to the official results !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
There is a good thread over at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with some first-hand accounts of the vehicle in the race a different race . Of particular note is that the vehicle might have had !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , was described as !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and might have been involved in an strike with another vehicle that damaged a fender and thus outing the underlying aluminium body again, all occurring at a race prior to the Baja 1000 .
EDIT: It appears that the Baja 1000 DNF was due to timing out; the Ford still finished the distance but not in the maximum allowed time. Engine management issues, "glacially slow" comment & body damage all occured at the 2013 Parker Bluewater Challenge, prior to the Baja 1000

Those are some really conflicting reports :/
Especially considering they claim it drove all the way back to Dearborn...

I totally forgot about the addition of class 2 in the SCORE rules. "Unlimited open-wheel or car/truck, 3.6 Liter Turbo or supercharged"

Being slow would be one thing. It's not a race truck, and other than the Raptor and Tremor the F-150 isn't trying to be fast.
Engine management issues? It's a development truck, sure, but that's worrisome. If the strike with another vehicle is what took it out of the race I think all is well, other than Ford lying about it. If the engine took it out? Not really good news for the engine...at least if you plan on running the Baja 1000

I don't think Ford lied, but it appears they didn't finish the course in the allowed time.

I thought that thread said it didn't finish at the Bluewater Desert Challenge? But did complete Baja?

If I'm reading the thread correctly I think the engine management issues and collision may have occurred in a different race... 2013 Parker Parker Blue Water Challenge.

Good catch. I misread.

The engine management issues were at Bluewater. Same as the collision

Hmmm, this then begs the question, how long did they take?
I don't think not finishing necessarily means a poor performance for a truck of this nature? Or does it?

If you look at the results for Baja, the #227 was definitely a DNF.

My interpretation was the engine issue was at Bluewater, and they were too slow (because stock) at Baja, but the truck didn't have any problems going the distance. Am I wrong?

Word on the street is a certain Nissan powered buggy is going to destroy this class in 2014.

Would that be the Nissan motor DanZio was working on a while back?
